Michael J. Krym

   I was born September 1, 1988 in Caserta Italy after my parents left Poland during the days of the communist regime on the eastern side of the Iron Curtain. We spent the first two years of my life living out of a trailer in Capua just north of where I was born. In 1990 my family immigrated to Canada where we lived in Windsor Ontario in hopes of starting a life in North America. Starting writing by the age of 12, I entered competitions and wrote plays throughout high school, although it was not until I was diagnosed with early onset arthritis in my hip at the age of 17 that I began focusing on my writing. In truth that was the moment where I realized there was nothing else for me in this world but storytelling.
   After writing/co-directing a few plays I attended Wilfrid Laurier for film school where I self-published my first book, The House of Saints at 19/20. From there I travelled before settling in Ottawa where I finished an honours degree in Philosophy from the University of Ottawa. Since I have published two newer books, The Whispers of Sanity, and the newest release, Eidos.

   Nothing has ever meant more to me in this world than pursuing my writing. The art of a good story is not simply something to pass the time, it is a tool, a tool for inspiring creativity, for teaching hard learned lessons without the vicious consequences, and above all else, it is a tool for bringing people together. A good piece of writing, as Hegel once said, is one that speaks to its age so that its lessons are not lost. So too a good story is the most notable work of philosophy, for it teaches us lessons without us even knowing, and those we carry with us everywhere we go by reflecting upon the similar circumstances that surround us every day. No matter how fantastical the story, there is always some element that has been forged in the world around us. Keep reading, keep feeling inspired.
